Our History
1954
Soccer and chocolate: a true Italian story
Walter Corsanini is a former Serie A soccer player. Among his many successes in career, he also attended the first ever derby of the Capitoline city, in the historic championship.
After retiring from soccer, he founded Walcor in his hometown, Cremona, which has always been an Italian district for excellent chocolate.
1960
Graffioni tradition
In the small laboratory in Via Marmolada in Cremona, Mr Corsanini produces the Graffioni: typical sweets with a heart of whole cherries inserted in a rough shell of chocolate including alcohol.
1970
New products. A women’s company.
Walcor moves to the new laboraty in via Novati in Cremona.. Mr Corsanini’s intuition markes the beginning of a new adventure: enlarging the production with Christmas subjects and Easter eggs. Products are wrapped by hand and delivered to the supermarkets in the nearby.
In 1978 Walter passed away and the company went to his wife Jolanda and his daughter Rosanna.
1980
Santini brothers: love for chocolate.
In the early 1980s the Santini brothers (grandchild of Walter) joined the companies. Following their grandfather’s idea, they left behind Graffioni production to focus entirely on chocolate coins, Christmas subjects and Easter eggs. Thanks to their success Walcor moved the production site to the new headquarter in Boschetto very close to Cremona.
1990
Surprises never end.
Carlo Santini (Walter’s nephew) has an intuition that would have changed Walcor’s destiny forever: work with licenses of major national and international brands to combine Walcor’s products quality and surprising contents. Thanks to his idea Walcor needs more space, so it moves to Pozzaglio.
Even the Walcor logo is renewed giving predominance to the colour red, which still identifies the brand today.
2000
A fast expanding future
In 2002 Walcor is the first Italian company for the production of Easter private labels items which involves the international market as well.
The company needs to reorganize the logistics spaces and so in 2011 the new Walcor centre for storage is built up with very high technical and innovation standars.
The Walcor brand, while retaining elements of continuity with the past, radically changed its appearance to reflect new market opportunities and the new corporate vision.
2020
History and renewal
In 2020 Walcor obtains the recognition of “Historic brand” to preserve the “Made in Italy” production excellence.
Two years later, in 2022, Walcor becomes a joint-stock company. Thanks to J.P.Morgan Asset Management and Invitalia a new future of industrial revamping is open. Walcor is ready to express its value in Italy and all around the world.
2023
New Logo
The rebranding marks a well defined moment in Walcor’s history. Today, with our new logo, Walcor is ready to be the most important player in chocolate production and reach out all the people in the world to raise emotions.
2024
Walcor's first 70 years
An important milestone for our company founded in 1954 from a small artisan workshop in the center of Cremona. On the occasion of this important event, we asked a hundred young artists to reinterpret the brand’s seventieth anniversary in a modern key, to give life to a celebratory, modern and brightly colored graphic image.
The winner of the contest is Sofia Fresia, with her oil-painted work through which she represents celebration, sharing and fun. With references to cocoa beans and flowers, the artwork represents a visual reminder of surprise, as a dive into imagination, and the positive values of the brand.
